Peter Brady appointed Executive Director of the BCSC
VANCOUVER, Aug. 23, 2016 /CNW/ - Brenda M. Leong, Chair and CEO of the British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC), is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Brady to the position of Executive Director of the Commission, effective September 7, 2016.
"Peter brings a wealth of capital markets and regulatory experience to his new role," said Brenda Leong. "He will provide continued strong leadership to the Commission and I look forward to working in partnership with him, building on our cohesive approach to protecting investors - through robust compliance programs, innovative investor education, strong enforcement and cost effective regulation."
Peter served as the BCSC's Director of Corporate Finance starting in 2012 where he led a number of initiatives related to venture market health and capital raising. Since February 2016, he has served as Director of Enforcement. He has previously worked at the BCSC on its litigation, exemptions and M&A teams.
Prior to re-joining the BCSC in 2012, Peter served as General Counsel of Qtrade Financial Group, a national wealth management company with investment dealer, mutual funds and insurance businesses. He also practiced securities, entertainment and corporate law at a public company and in private practice. Mr. Brady holds a B.A. (Honours) from Queens University and a law degree from the University of Victoria. He is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia.
As Executive Director, Mr. Brady will be the chief administrative officer of the Commission, overseeing the financial and administrative affairs of the Commission and directing the activities of the staff to effectively enforce the Securities Act.
