Peter O'Brian Reappointed as Chair of TVO's Board of Directors

TORONTO, Oct. 16, 2014 /CNW/ - TVO is pleased to announce that the Ontario Government has reappointed Peter O'Brian to serve as Chair of the TVO Board of Directors for a two-year term (November 2014 – October 2016.) O'Brian has served as Chair since 2005.

O'Brian is an award-winning filmmaker. Over three decades, his successful collaborations with talented directors and original Canadian projects have made him a leader in Canadian cinema. He is a founding board member and former Executive Director of the Canadian Film Centre. In 2012, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and in 2013 he was honoured with the Directors Guild of Canada's Honourary Life Member Award.

"I'm incredibly proud of what TVO has accomplished," said O'Brian. "I have served as Chair over the past nine years, and during that time TVO has transformed into the innovative media organization it is known for today. As a leader in digital education, current affairs and documentaries, the future is incredibly exciting and TVO's best years lie ahead."

Members of the TVO Board of Directors, including the Chair, are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
