Organizations Hold Fundraising Effort Dedicated to a Single Cause for the First Time; Alberta Stores to also Hold Pet Food Drives
TORONTO, May 6, 2016 /CNW/ - Canadians who would like to help pets and Pet Parents affected by the wildfire crisis in Fort McMurray can now make monetary donations to PetSmart Charities of Canada at PetSmartcharities.ca or at any PetSmart location across the country. Funds collected for a two-week period, May 6-20, through the stores and website will support pets, their families and the Fort McMurray community.
In addition, PetSmart stores in Alberta will host a food drive with proceeds being directed to the pets and Pet Parents who have been displaced by the wildfire. Local animal welfare organizations will pick up food from Alberta store locations and deliver it to pets and their families on a regular basis.
"We know that our customers are looking for a way to support the Pets and Pet Parents of Fort McMurray, so we decided to dedicate all fundraising efforts over the next two weeks to helping pets, their families and the Fort McMurray community during this time of crisis and great need," said John DeFranco, President of PetSmart Canada and Chairperson of PetSmart Charities of Canada.
