P&H secures Fraser Grain Terminal partner to expand Canadian grain export capacity
VANCOUVER, Dec. 12, 2018 /CNW/ - Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) is pleased to announce it has a formal agreement to partner with GrainsConnect Canada Operations, Inc. in constructing the Fraser Grain Terminal in Surrey, B.C. P&H received a project permit following regulatory approval in November 2018 for the new terminal, which will bring needed capacity and efficient infrastructure for grain exports to Canada's western gateway.
GrainsConnect Canada Operations, Inc., subject to obtaining necessary approvals from the relevant competition authorities, will purchase shares in the Fraser Grain Terminal Limited. This investment reflects the national and global importance of the terminal for the supply chain, and both companies vested interest in facilitating Canadian farmers' grain and specialty product exports.
"This partnership is a testament to P&H's dedication to Canada and our strong business relationships around the world" says John Heimbecker, President, Grain Division and Executive Vice President of P&H. "This partnership helps ensure Fraser Grain Terminal is ready for service in 2020."
The new terminal will provide 4 million tonnes of export capacity each year. The facility boasts three new state-of-the-art shiploaders, modern storage facilities, fully enclosed conveying systems and efficient rail car systems.
