MONTREAL, Jan. 30, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - The Uniprix Group, the largest affiliation of independent pharmacists in Quebec, announces the appointment of Mr. Philippe Duval as new President and Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Duval replaces Mr. François Castonguay, who had announced last August he would step down after 20 years as head of the company.
Before joining the Uniprix Group, Mr. Duval was SAQ President until 2013 and General Manager of the Society for the Celebration of Montreal's 375th Anniversary. He will begin his new duties as of February 2nd.
Mr. Normand Bonin, Chairman of Uniprix Inc's board of directors, is thrilled by this nomination. "Mr. Duval has impressive expertise in retail and management, which is very important for our 375 affiliated pharmacies that operate in a highly competitive environment, heavily influenced by informed and demanding consumers!"
Mr. Duval believes there are many challenges in a rapidly evolving retail pharmacy industry. "I am a field manager, and I am convinced that success, best practices and great ideas stem from having senior managers on the ground."
The new President and CEO is very comfortable with the "franchisor/franchise" business model of the Uniprix Group, and particularly with the entrepreneurial spirit of its shareholders.
