OTTAWA, ON, May 9, 2013 /CNW/ - May 13-20, 2013 will mark Canada Road Safety Week, a national campaign aimed at making Canada's roads the safest in the world. The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) is inviting you to the annual kick-off of the 2013 National Canada Road Safety Week in Ottawa, Ontario.
This campaign is a policing initiative designed to remind people that an essential goal of traffic enforcement is to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways. Educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority.

Speakers include: OPP Deputy Commissioner Larry Beechey, Chair of the CACP Traffic Committee, Chief Charles Bordeleau, Ottawa Police Service, Chief Superintendent Byron Boucher, RCMP, Director General of National Criminal Operations and the Executive Director of Canadian Council of Motor Transportation Administrators, Allison Rougeau.
Speakers will be available for personal interviews, followed by a photo opportunity.
This year's focus will be on behaviours that put drivers, passengers and other road users most at risk. These are: impaired driving, seat belt use, and all aspects related to aggressive and distracted driving. All enforcement agencies across the country have been invited to participate.
