Photo Opportunity - Canada's Women's National Soccer Team Kicks it Up for Girls' Rights with Toronto Girls Soccer Team
TORONTO, May 30, 2012 /CNW/ - Leading up to their games at the London 2012 Summer Olympics, members of Canada's Women's National Soccer Team will be in Toronto to meet with the North Toronto Nitros, a local girls soccer team, to show their support for girls sports in Canada and also for girls' rights around the world. The teams will hold a fun practice while wearing Because I am a Girl pink headbands and shoelaces to demonstrate their support for girl empowerment and potential.
Canada's Women's National Soccer Team players and the North Toronto Nitros are supporters of Plan Canada's Because I am a Girl initiative, a global initiative to end gender inequality, promote girls' rights and lift millions of girls and everyone around them out of poverty. Proceeds raised from the sales of headbands and shoelaces will support equal access to sports programs for young girls in Colombia.
We invite you to join us for a photo opportunity with both teams this Friday.
