Pickering College will proudly cheer for alumna Gabrielle Daleman when she competes in Sochi
NEWMARKET, ON, Feb. 14, 2014 /CNW/ - Pickering College is bursting with pride because one of its own is competing at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
On February 19, the school community will gather together to cheer on Canadian Olympic Athlete and Pickering College alumna Gabrielle Daleman (Gabby), as she competes in Senior Ladies Figure Skating.
Gabby got her start in skating at Pickering College, where she was a student from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. Her dad, Michael Daleman, is a Senior School teacher at Pickering College (PC). With her father as coach, Gabby does her strength and conditioning training at PC.
At just 16 years old, Gabby is the youngest athlete on Team Canada at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.
"We are so proud of Gabby and her incredible achievement in going to Sochi and feel she is already a winner," says Headmaster Peter Sturrup, Pickering College. "Gabby exemplifies the very best in our students - determination, courage, resilience and outstanding accomplishment. The whole school is behind her and her family and we can't wait to see her performance."
