MONTREAL, Nov. 15, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Place Montréal Trust, a property of Ivanhoé Cambridge, unveiled today its all-new 2.0 Christmas tree. Created by Studio Artefact, this new work which is over 75 feet high and combines tradition with modern values has all the makings to become Montreal's new symbol of the Holiday season.
With its 80″ screens, its electronic tablets, and its 2.0 features, Place Montréal Trust's Christmas tree is sure to spark the imagination of the millions of people who will be visiting the downtown Montreal core in the coming weeks. A total of nine screens are linked to various stations which are equipped with electronic tablets and are strategically placed throughout the shopping centre. Visitors of all ages can have fun playing the interactive games that have been developed exclusively for Place Montréal Trust. In addition, every Thursday between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., until December 20, visitors are invited to tweet their Holiday wishes at #sapinpmt. The tweets will be displayed on the giant screen at the base of the tree.
The base will also be adorned with Holiday wishes in various languages, a tribute to the cultural diversity that defines Montreal's urban fabric and the Quebec community.
"We wanted the new Place Montréal Trust Christmas tree to reflect the image of Montreal and Montrealers: dynamic, accessible, and generous," said Debbie Ruel, General Manager of Place Montréal Trust. "The spirit of our former tree's animated scenes, so popular over the past 20 years, has been preserved and reworked into a modern urban style, which combines tradition and technology."
A partnership with the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation
For its inauguration, Place Montréal Trust decided to associate its tree with a very special cause for children who are battling illness. From November 15 to December 4, Place Montréal Trust will donate up to $1,000 per day to the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation, counting $1 for each game completed on the tablets.
"It is an excellent idea to give visitors an opportunity to contribute to a cause while they engage in a fun activity. Place Montréal Trust and Ivanhoé Cambridge have shown amazing creativity," said Dr. Micheline Ste-Marie, Executive Director at the Montreal Children's Hospital. "The more fun we have, the more generous Place Montréal Trust will be. We therefore encourage as many people as possible to come out and play!"
