MONTREAL, QC, Sept. 24, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - To mark the National Tree and Health Day, several garden centres in Montréal are offering a variety of leafy trees at a very special price: a $35 discount on the regular sale price. Trees offered are 1,75m and over. Applicable for Montreal residents only, and for trees planted on private properties in one of the City's 19 boroughs.
"FIHOQ – la Fédération interdisciplinaire de l'horticulture ornementale du Québec joins with SOVERDI on this exceptional offer. Our gardeners love trees: they are more than happy to share their knowledge with new clients", said Luce Daigneault, Executive Director of FIHOQ.
"Montréal Garden Centres join the campaing to plant new trees intown. The project of planting 300,000 trees till 2022 is moving ahead, already supported by 40 local and regional non profit organizations gathered in the Alliance Forêt urbaine", has stated Malin Anagrius, CEO of SOVERDI .
Financial support is awarded by the City of Montréal within the Canopy Action Plan project, a collective endeavour for a healthy urban forest.

About the Canopy Action Plan
A thorough study by the City established that 20% of Montréal is under tree canopy. The city and SOVERDI have devised a plan: 300,000 new trees over ten years will bring the canopy to 25% of the territory. Breakdown: 120,000 on City grounds and 180,000 on private and institutional sites.
