Play MPE® Secure Digital Media Distribution System Web Portal Expanded to Support All Browsers on All Devices
VANCOUVER, April 18, 2013 /CNW/ - Destiny Media Technologies (TSXV: DSY) (OTCQX: DSNY) is pleased to announce a major upgrade to both the software and hardware infrastructure that powers the Play MPE® Direct-to-Web portal (http://goplay.plaympe.com). This site is used by tens of thousands of music industry professionals to access pre-release music and videos distributed through the Play MPE® system.
In the past, industry recipients could access pre-release content that was solicited to them either through proprietary player software (Mac, PC and iPhone) or through Java enabled web browsers. This upgrade expands access to include both HTML 5 and legacy browsers on all modern computers, smart phones, tablets and other devices. Access to download or stream is instant and doesn't require plug-in software.
Despite anticipated growth in users and activity, Play MPE® customers will continue to enjoy uninterrupted performance, even during large bursts of simultaneous access because of the hardware and infrastructure upgrades. Content is protected by Destiny's proprietary security and watermarking solutions. Both streams and downloads are marked with the recipient's identity and other forensic details, so they can be held accountable in the case the music is distributed illegally. A watermark detection service is directly available to our top clients and IFPI (http://ifpi.org) for real-time file checking.
Although today's Play MPE® Direct-to-Web upgrade immediately provides support for access through smart phone and tablet browsers, Destiny is developing a series of new Play MPE® apps, specifically designed for various devices. This includes an update to the Play MPE® iPhone app as well as new apps for Android phones, iPad, Blackberry phones, and Android tablets, all expected to be launched before the end of the 4th quarter.
