Play the Parks with Pride presented in partnership with Toronto Eaton Centre
The Downtown Yonge BIA brings this summer's biggest event to Trinity Square Park
TORONTO, June 18, 2014 /CNW/ - World Pride will take over Toronto from June 20-29! To celebrate the diversity of Toronto's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer/Questioning, 2 Spirited, Allies (LGBTTIQQ2SA), the Downtown Yonge BIA, in partnership with Toronto Eaton Centre, presents Play the Parks with Pride.
Play the Parks with Pride will celebrate World Pride 2014 with a series of lunch time performances at Trinity Square Park. Grab your lunch from the Urban Eatery or one of the many other dining options at Toronto Eaton Centre and relax in the park for an hour of fun and music.
"Pride Toronto is one of the most anticipated events of the summer and truly represents the diverse nature of the city of Toronto," said Meredith Vlitas, Senior Marketing Director, Toronto Eaton Centre. "We are delighted to participate and can't wait to celebrate!"
This is the second year that The Downtown Yonge BIA has presented the Play the Parks event.
"We are pleased to offer the Play the Parks event for the second year and be part of World Pride celebrations," said Mark Garner, Executive Director, Downtown Yonge BIA. "The BIA is proud to support Pride and local music growth as well as promote the activation of our spaces."
Performances at Trinity Square Park will run from noon until 1:00 p.m. and include:
- Tuesday, June 24, 2014: RadioPlay Band plays all-time favourites from the past and present - mix of hits, disco, the 80's and more! This is a celebration of music with a hint of humour, RadioPlay Band will have you on your feet and dancing!
- Wednesday, June 25, 2014: Steven Taetz plays his original roots-pop compositions, as well as classic cover songs by leading LGBT artists. Steven has released chart-topping dance singles around the world as a featured vocalist and songwriter. Recently returning to his roots, he co-wrote songs with an award-winning folk-pop artist from each province across Canada, recording the material on his latest solo album.
- Thursday, June 26, 2014: Work's a Drag - Pride Edition! Spend your lunch break with Toronto's Finest QUEENS! Hosted by Alisha Van Horne (Miss Gay Toronto 2014/2015) and performances by Special Guests; Brooke Lynn Hytes (Miss Canada Ultimate 2013/2014), Heaven Lee Hytes (Miss Gay Universe 2013/2014) and Farra N. Hyte (Miss Gay Toronto 2005/2006)
- Friday, June 27, 2014: Sara London serenades with a Soulful House music repertoire. She has an energy you can't ignore; she will captivate any audience. With hundreds of performances over the past decade; writing and recording sessions in New York City, Sara has molded herself into the artist she is today.
