MONTRÉAL, Aug. 31, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Even though the summer season is drawing to a close, activities at Parc Jean-Drapeau are far from over. The month of September is shaping up to be an eventful one, indeed! Family and friends are invited to come to the Parc during this last month of summer and enjoy the wide range of activities that are in store.
Jean-Doré Beach and the Aquatic Complex: open until Monday, September 7
Take advantage of the final days of the swimming season at the Parc. Open on Labour Day weekend from noon to 7 p.m., the Jean-Doré Beach and the Aquatic Complex will be closing for the season on Monday, September 7, 2015.
The Color Run by Night: September 5
At dusk, participants run through four different fluorescent coloured zones, a bubble zone and a surprise zone as they cover the 5-kilometre course on Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Come and cheer on the runners!
Défi 911: September 6
Défi 911 is an 8-hour running or cycling event on Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in which 450 participants from the public sector raise funds for the Québec Breakfast Club.
Triathlon Esprit Montréal: September 11-12-13
Triathlon Esprit de Montréal, at the Olympic Basin, welcomes more than 7,000 athletes. Come and cheer them on – the course is designed so that fans are right in the heart of the action!
UPA Open House: September 13
Free activities for the whole family from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: meet the farmers, discover the farm animals, take part in a corn roast, see sheep-shearing and cow-milking demonstrations, eat products from the farm, and much more!
Montréal Marathon: September 20
More than 30,000 participants make their way through Parc Jean-Drapeau and various sectors of the city during the Montréal marathon and half-marathon, one of the biggest running events in Canada. Please note that Île Notre-Dame (Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve) and part of Île St-Hélène will be closed to cars and cyclists in the morning.
48-Hour Ride Make-a-Wish: September 25-26-27
Make-a-Wish Québec has organized a major fund-raising event in Québec since 2007: 48 hours of cycling on Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Challenges, messages of hope and pleasure are a certainty!
Québec Cup Dragon Boat Racing Championship: September 26-27
The Québec Cup Dragon Boat Racing Championship at the Olympic Basin is the third and final leg of the Triple Crown Circuit, which includes the H2O Open and Montreal Challenge competitions. The teams compete in 200-, 500- and 2,000-metre races.
Piknic Électronik: September 5-6-7 – September 13 – September 20 – September 27
The Piknic Électronik music events continue under the Alexander Calder's L'Homme sculpture. Dance in the sunshine to the beat of electronic music, while getting a terrific view of downtown Montréal!
