Police Update 2013 Multijurisdictional Homicide Investigation

Additional Charges Laid in Connection with Project CAPELLA

ORILLIA, ON, April 10, 2014 /CNW/ - The Multijurisdictional Major Case Investigation into the homicide of Timothy Bosma, the disappearance of Laura Babcock, and the death of Wayne Millard,- known as 'Project Capella', has resulted in the following statement being issued by the Multijurisdictional Major Case Manager, Detective-Inspector Dave Hillman of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) as follows:

"As a result of an ongoing and intensive criminal investigation which began on May 6, 2013 involving the collaborative efforts of the Hamilton Police Service, the Toronto Police Service, and the OPP, the following charges are now being preferred by police in the matter known as 'Project Capella':

1. In addition to being currently charged with the First Degree Murder of Timothy BOSMA in Hamilton, Dellen MILLARD, aged 28 years, has now been formally charged with the First Degree Murder in the deaths of Wayne MILLARD and Laura BABCOCK. The accused was brought before the Toronto West Courts on April 9, 2014 and formally arraigned on those additional charges.

2. Mark SMICH, aged 26 years, who is currently charged along with Dellen MILLARD with the homicide of Timothy BOSMA, was also brought before the Toronto West Courts on April 9, 2014 and is formally charged with First Degree Murder in the death of Laura BABCOCK.

3. As a result of the ongoing investigation, Christina NOUDGA, aged 21 years of Toronto has been formally charged with Accessory after the Fact to Murder in relation to the homicide of Timothy BOSMA. She will appear in Hamilton Provincial Court on April 10, 2014, to answer to that charge.
   
   

Now that these three cases are before the criminal courts, the police will not release any further statements. Police remind all media representatives that a publication ban is currently in place on the Timothy BOSMA matter in Hamilton and to comment further on any of these cases may breach a court order.

The investigation is continuing into all three matters until all investigative leads have been followed.

The police would like to thank the members of the public and the media for their assistance in this investigation and ask that the victim's families be afforded privacy during these difficult times."
