Mobile display to showcase company's commitment to its advanced plug-in E-Hybrid vehicles
TORONTO, Nov 20, 2015 /CNW/ - Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd. launched today an E-Performance mobile display which will travel the country with the goal of communicating the manufacturer's pledge to offering performance-oriented and at the same time highly efficient products. Marking an important step, the display will feature a replica of the 919 Hybrid race car – winner of this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans and Manufacturer's title in the 2015 World Endurance Championship, a 2016 Cayenne S E-Hybrid, an interactive touchscreen display, as well as dedicated product specialists.
"We are very proud to be showcasing this initiative," said Alexander Pollich, President & CEO, Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd. "It will allow consumers to familiarize themselves with the history and application of the incredible E-Hybrid technology which the brand has developed. Innovation and sustainability are important pillars of our brand and we are excited to be able to demonstrate this in a fun and interactive fashion."
The hybrid tradition at Porsche extends back to 1900. That year, Ferdinand Porsche designed and built the Lohner Porsche – the world's first vehicle to have a battery-powered electric drive as well as a combustion engine. Exactly 110 years after, a Porsche 911 race car with innovative hybrid drive made its debut at the Geneva Auto Show as the GT3 R Hybrid. In 2013, the Panamera S E-Hybrid set standards worldwide as the first plug-in vehicle of the premium class. The Cayenne S E-Hybrid followed in 2014, transferring forward-looking technology to the premium SUV segment. Extraordinarily powerful hybrid technology was also featured in the 918 Spyder super sports car. That car served as an example of technology transfer from motorsport to production cars: the most advanced form of hybrid drive technology is currently implemented in the 919 Hybrid race car.
Porsche Canada announced last week that it had lowered the starting price of the 2016 Panamera S E-Hybrid to $106,600 – a reduction of $3,400 compared to the 2015 model year. This adjustment effectively brings the price in alignment with that of the Panamera S. Now, the Panamera S E-Hybrid represents an even more compelling choice in the segment, offering such quintessential Porsche traits as style, performance, quality, and impressive efficiency of its advanced powertrain.
