Port Coquitlam amputee's story inspires kids at War Amps Seminar today

VANCOUVER, March 23, 2013 /CNW/ - Nikki Fowlie remembers well the challenges of growing up as an amputee.  Today at 1 p.m. in the Stanley Park Room of Vancouver's Westin Bayshore Hotel (1601 Bayshore Drive), she will tell child amputees attending The War Amps 2013 BC Child Amputee (CHAMP) Seminar her inspiring story.

Born a left leg amputee, Nikki enrolled in CHAMP through which she received financial support for artificial limbs and attended the annual BC CHAMP seminar.  She later "gave back" by becoming a Junior Counsellor to the younger Champs at seminars. Today she will speak with humour and candour about the challenges of growing up with an amputation as well as how The War Amps philosophy of "amputees helping amputees" helped her. Holding a Masters degree in social work, Nikki resides in Port Coquitlam with her husband and son, and works in the healthcare field.
