Porter Airlines launches service to Moncton
Flights from Toronto City Airport and Ottawa begin today
MONCTON, NB, June 25 /CNW/ - Porter Airlines is debuting year-round service to Moncton today. Non-stop flights are available between Ottawa and Greater Moncton International Airport, continuing to Porter's downtown base at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport after a brief stop in Ottawa.
"Porter's unique, refined approach to travel is being well-received in Moncton," said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. "This newly launched service allows passengers to connect beyond Ottawa or Toronto, to enjoy many options within Porter's growing network. Short-haul travel from the Atlantic region has never been easier."
The inaugural Moncton flight touched down early this afternoon and was greeted by a ceremonial water cannon salute by airport fire trucks. Guests, politicians and local business representatives celebrated the new service at a welcome reception held at Greater Moncton International Airport.
"Porter is a first-class airline and we are absolutely delighted that they have selected the Greater Moncton International Airport as their first New Brunswick destination partner," said Rob Robichaud, president and CEO of Greater Moncton International Airport. "This is another great example of how Enterprise Greater Moncton and our communities collaborated to attract a new, first-class air service that will ultimately benefit not only this region, but the Province of New Brunswick as a whole."
For the summer season, two daily roundtrips are available until September 7. The fall schedule includes four weekly flights, with daily roundtrips on Thursday and Friday, and twice daily service on Sunday.
