TORONTO, April 8, 2015 /CNW/ - PortsToronto Harbour Master Angus Armstrong "crowns" M/V Tundra Captain Tykhonov Vyacheslav with the centuries-old silk and beaver top hat at the 154th annual Beaver Hat Ceremony at Redpath Refinery. The annual ceremony celebrates the arrival of the season's first ocean-going ship – which this year was the M/V Tundra – into the Port of Toronto, hearkening the start of the 2015 shipping season. The Port of Toronto plays an important role in Canada's transportation network and the Toronto economy, allowing for the delivery of salt and sugar, as well as concrete, sand and other goods needed to support the city's booming construction industry, directly into the heart of the city. Last year marked an eight-year high for imports into the Port of Toronto.
