QUEBEC, Aug. 29, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - As part of the second farmer's tour , the Oil and Gas Services Association of Québec (OGSAQ) once again, took a delegation of farmers, municipal officials, a First Nations representative and business people of Quebec to see Alberta's oil and gas industry. After this experience, a survey was conducted among participants in order to get their assessment and perceptions about the industry.
Here are some results of the survey:
90% of participants now have a good opinion about the oil and gas industry in Alberta following their experience compared to only 10% of them before the trip.
100% of participants strongly agreed or somewhat agreed with the statement that it is possible in the near future, for oil and gas companies to operate in Quebec harmoniously with the environment.
Among the activities that the delegates participated in, the most popular were:
- Meeting with the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER)
- Visiting Canyon Technical Services, a company which specializes in hydraulic fracturing
- Touring wells that are already producing as well as a drilling operation
100% of respondents would recommend participating in an upcoming farmers tour to a colleague, friend or neighbour if it took place.
"The survey clearly shows us that this type of encounter between citizens and industry players is a positive experience. Communication is the best way to demystify the oil and gas industry as well as breaking down the fears and misconceptions that are constantly transmitted "said Mario Lévesque, President OGSAQ.
The Oil and Gas Services Association of Québec (OGSAQ), founded in 2011, represents more than 60 companies employing more than 5000 workers.
