MONTRÉAL, May 9, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - The flooding currently occurring in the northwest end of the island is creating an unprecedented, exceptional situation forcing the Office de consultation publique de Montréal (OCPM) to cancel the presentations of briefs that were to be held this week at Pierrefonds-Roxboro city hall as part of the consultation on the future of Pierrefonds West. This exceptional measure is unavoidable given the unfortunate situation experienced by citizens in that part of our city. Our thoughts go out to the flood victims and to the workers and volunteers supporting them.
The hearings will therefore be postponed to a date to be determined as soon as circumstances will allow, probably not before the end of this month or in June. In the meantime, and to allow the commission to proceed with its work, the OCPM may hold a few meetings that would exceptionally take place in our downtown offices beginning the week of May 15, 2017. Just like the usual sessions, the meetings will be open to the public and recorded by a stenographer. They will be announced if and when they are scheduled.
The OCPM apologizes for this unfortunate delay that is out of its control, and thereby wishes to allow participants to focus on the difficult situation affecting their borough. The Office would also like to express its solidarity with all the citizens in these difficult time and hopes that things will return to normal as soon as possible.
Detailed information about the consultation, activities and documentation are available on the Office Web site at ocpm.qc.ca/pierrefonds-ouest, or at the offices of the OCPM located at 1550 Metcalfe Street, Suite 1414.
