Preliminary Resource Estimate for Aurizon Central Zone Nears Completion
Results of Phase 2 Drilling New Mobile Metal Ion(R) (MMI) Soil Survey Anomalies New material on new, improved website

ARMSTRONG, BC, <chron>Nov. 4</chron> /CNW/ - GWR Resources Inc. (TSX Venture: GWQ) is pleased to report exploration results from its Lac La Hache porphyry copper project, highlighted by near-completion of a preliminary resource estimate for the gold-rich Aurizon Central (copper-gold porphyry) Zone, one of several prospects on the property. Also presented are remaining assays for holes completed during Phase 2 drilling (see <chron>July 10, 2009</chron> news release) within the Aurizon South, Aurizon Central, and Jack claims. Results from a new, 1300 sample, multi-element MMI soil survey completed over part of the property offer enhanced anomaly definition relative to historical, conventional B-soil patterns, and significant new anomalies in several areas. A large amount of information and images have been added to GWR's web site as part of a complete reconstruction which is still in progress. (Visit http://www.gwrresources.com)

1. Preliminary Indicated Mineral Resource Estimate* Aurizon Central Zone

The Company has received a preliminary copper-gold resource estimate for the Aurizon Central Zone (AZC), completed by John Nebocat, Geologist, P. Eng., Pacific Geological Services, Gibsons, B.C. The calculations are being reviewed before public release, expected soon. Although the zone is open to the north-northeast, mineralization within 59 drill holes included in this model spans 300 m east-west, 350 m north-south and a depth of 500 m. Mineralization occurs as chalcopyrite and bornite irregularly associated with hydrothermal breccia cut by post-mineralization faults which down-drop the zone to the north. (Visit the new GWR website for related figures, specifically http://www.gwrresources.com/i/Maps/Aurizon_01.jpg and http://www.gwrresources.com/i/maps/AurizonNebocat3DModel.jpg )

The gold-rich nature of the hypogene sulphide zone is indicated by gold values (in grams per tonne) that are generally twice that of corresponding copper values (in percent), but also by multi-gram gold intersections where copper may be relatively low. Native copper (supergene) is widespread, forming an enriched core with a less concentrated halo which also appears down-dropped.

<person>President Irvin Eisler</person> states:

"The size and tenor of the zone compares favourably with some of the Mount Polley zones. We are encouraged by the gold-rich nature, especially in view of the current exceptionally high gold and strong copper prices. We look forward to discovery of additional similar or potentially larger zones, below our several known shallow-drilled prospects or in new, emerging areas on the property".

2. Completion of Phase 2 Drilling: Remaining Assays Reported

As previously reported, Phase 2 drilling focused on determining the eastern limits of the AZC, and on following the hydrothermal breccia-hosted, high-gold structure within the Aurizon Zone South (AZS). Previously pending assays for portions of these holes have been received and are included in the assay table below.

The 2009 drilling program in AZS successfully extended the gold-rich structure more than 200 m along strike, to the south of hole AZS08-07 (26m @ 0.87% Cu, 6.26gpt Au, including 6m @ 1.92% Cu, 15.5 gpt Au). Hole AZS09-16 intersected two 2-meter gold-rich intervals including one containing albite stockwork fracturing with visible gold (a property first) and assaying 4.6% Cu, 2.45 gpt Au, 30.9 gpt Ag over 2 meters.

Despite two attempts to complete AZS09-11 (NQ rods broke at 498.9m; drilling resumed using BQ through the NQ but again broke at 519.4m) the hole was abandoned in mineralized breccia (see assay table), successfully extending the structure 300m vertically below AZS09-10. The zone remains open to depth below hole AZS09-11. Additional step-out drilling in the vicinity of L7800N (holes AZS09-13, -15) confirmed the northeasterly trend of the zone, intersecting high Cu (up to 1.87%/2m) and Au (up to 12.2 gpt/2m) within a 26m (down-hole) intersection in AZS09-15.

Hole AZS09-17 was drilled to test the width of the mineralized zone at the bottom of vertical hole AZ08-63, but steepened and did not intersect the zone, effectively defining the eastern edge of alteration bordering the Aurizon Central Zone. The upper portions of holes AZS09-17 and AZS09-20 intersected monzonitic rocks lying above a volcanic enclave, placing the host monzonite intrusive contact further to east than previously known. Hole AZS09-20 failed to extend the AZS hydrothermal breccia zone but did intersect several separate, 2-3 meter intervals which assayed more than 0.5 gpt Au, including one 3m interval carrying 26.3 gpt Au and 51.6 gpt Ag. The latter Ecotech lab assay value was produced from narrow (2-3 cm wide), brecciated, albitized, potassically altered fracture fillings containing gold-bearing pyrite with up to five hundred gpt Au, as estimated using in-house XRF analyses (non-43-101 compliant). The XRF analyses indicate that anomalous cobalt (Co) is associated with the pyritic gold. Similar correlation of high Co with gold-bearing pyrite (XRF results) has been noted elsewhere in the area, suggesting that Co patterns in the new MMI soil results might support distinction between barren and gold-bearing pyritic zones. Hole AZS09-18, drilled to test the near-surface high-chargeability anomaly associated with the AZS trend on Line 7600N confirms this, intersecting barren pyrite (explaining the IP anomaly) overlain by very low MMI Co values. In contrast, Hole AZS09-20 is overlain by high MMI Co values. The GWR exploration team will investigate these relationships further.

Two vertical holes (AZ09-102 and AZ09-103) were completed within AZC to extend mineralization, alteration and structural trends. Both holes have encountered strong alteration and samples have been sent for assays, results are pending. Two reconnaissance drill holes (JK09-01 and JK090-02) were drilled on the eastern side of the property in new areas to test combined deep IP, magnetic, airborne spectrometric and conventional B-soil copper anomalies (no MMI sampling in this area to date). Results have confirmed that pyrite is associated with a large IP anomaly.

See assay table:

Note: Previously reported results in italics, NEW or UPDATED results bolded ------------------------------------------------------------------------- NAD 83 Zone 10 --------------- Dir- EOH Cu Au Length Hole E N ection Dip (m) (%) (gpt) (m) From To ------------------------------------------------------------------------- AZS09- 11 618123 5757791 270 -60.5 519.4 - 0.54 21.0 433.0 454.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- incl 0.23 0.91 3.0 436.0 439.0 ------------------------------- 0.13 0.37 24.4 495.0 519.4 ------------------------------- incl 0.18 0.92 3.9 495.0 498.9 ------------------------------- 0.21 0.55 8.0 511.4 510.4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- AZS09- 12 617970 5757618 270 -60 593.4 1.06 2.13 4.0 212.0 216.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0.24 0.69 18.0 510.0 528.0 ------------------------------- incl 0.35 2.29 4.0 510.0 514.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- AZS09- 13 618090 5757816 270 -61 424.3 0.17 0.62 18.0 342.0 360.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- AZS09- 14 618015 5757618 270 -61 654.1 0.21 0.20 48.0 313.0 361.0 ------------------------------- incl 0.56 0.60 6.0 355.0 361.0 ------------------------------- 0.76 0.89 2.5 449.0 451.5 ------------------------------- 0.31 0.50 3.0 532.0 535.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- AZS09- 15 618116 5757816 270 -61 593.4 0.55 2.09 26.0 420.0 446.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- incl 1.19 5.98 8.0 432.0 440.0 ------------------------------- incl 1.28 10.3 4.0 436.0 440.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- AZS09- 16 617856 5757618 270 -60 358.7 4.60 2.45 2.0 140.0 142.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0.27 1.58 2.0 335.0 337.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- AZS09- 17 618102 5757996 270 -73 575.1 No significant results ------------------------------------------------------------------------- AZS09- 18 617660 5757620 270 -65 328.3 No significant results ------------------------------------------------------------------------- AZS09- 19 617300 5757750 270 -60 379.7 No significant results ------------------------------------------------------------------------- AZS09- 20 618165 5757856 270 -65 666.5 0.08 0.49 2.0 59.0 61.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0.04 0.52 2.0 138.0 140.0 ------------------------------- 0.39 0.95 3.0 336.0 339.0 Note: no significant copper assays in ------------------------------- AZS09-20, but several narrow gold zones 0.01 26.3 3.0 450.0 453.0 are shown here ------------------------------- 0.01 0.75 6.0 477.0 483.0 ------------------------------- 0.14 1.07 6.0 586.0 592.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- AZ09- 102 617988 5758137 0 -90 364.8 assays pending ------------------------------------------------------------------------- AZ09- 103 617928 5758166 0 -90 386.1 assays pending ------------------------------------------------------------------------- JK09- 01 619080 5758396 270 -60 569.0 No significant results ------------------------------------------------------------------------- JK09- 02 619117 5758742 46 -60 340.4 assays pending -------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. New Mobile Metal Ion(R) (MMI) Soil Survey: Exciting New Results

In 2008, GWR completed a test line across the Peach and Aurizon Zones to determine the potential utility of the relatively new proprietary MMI soil geochemical method. The survey produced positive copper anomalies over known zones and also correctly indicated relative gold and silver enrichment associated with the Aurizon Zone. Based on these encouraging results, a 1300 sample soil survey was completed by Hendex Exploration Services Limited, <person>Prince George</person>, over the eastern part of the property in September, 2009. GWR selected 8 elements (Cu Au Ag Mo, Co, Ni, Pb, Zn) for analyses by SGS Mineral Services, <location>Toronto</location>.

The Company is pleased to report that all MMI assays have been received, processed, plotted and are now being evaluated. Responses over the known copper-gold prospects are well developed and consistent, with centralized Cu highs accompanied by one or more of Au-Ag-Ni-Mo-Co, flanked by strong positive Zn and Pb peripheral halos. This phenomenon has been described in MMI case histories elsewhere. Patterns over the Aurizon Central and South Zones are particularly clear, providing confidence that this method is responding well. Similar or stronger anomalies appear elsewhere, showing strong correlation with the edges of deep-IP chargeability highs associated with known prospects and in new untested areas.

Patterns within the MMI trends, such as metal zoning (Co-Ni-Cu-Mo, for one example) across chargeability highs, and linear MMI trends (Au, for example) which coincide with known or inferred structures, offer valuable new exploration guides.

Preliminary field follow-up to just a few of these anomalies has been highly encouraging, with new bedrock occurrences of chalcopyrite and bornite discovered in all cases where bedrock has been encountered. Work over the very first anomaly investigated immediately exposed a fault-controlled high-grade massive chalcopyrite and bornite vein up to 15 cm wide (a single grab sampled assayed over 11% Cu and 0.56 gpt Au) surrounded by an intensely altered, brittle fracture system with abundant malachite and azurite. Backhoe pits have traced the trend 20 m to the north, and 80 m to the south, but the MMI patterns suggest it may extend considerably farther, across several of the 200m-spaced MMI lines. Parallel linear trends are apparent.

Follow-up in other areas has already produced new discoveries of disseminated chalcopyrite and bornite directly below the MMI anomalies, in potassically altered monzonite outcrop. In-house XRF analyses of related outcrop grab samples indicates copper concentrations in the 0.36 range, but these will be confirmed by geochemical analyses. In some cases, the new bedrock copper discoveries are near surface (20 - 50 cm below the surface) yet failed to produce copper anomalies in the historical B-soil data. In at least two cases, strong MMI anomalies occur where backhoe sampling was unable to reach bedrock and these areas requiring drill testing.

Numerous additional MMI anomalies remain untested. GWR's exploration team will combine these results with ongoing compilation and continued re-evaluation of historical results.

A revised exploration strategy is emerging. "Our exploration team and field support staff have been busy, systematically building our database, field testing ideas, developing a robust exploration approach based on important new information. Several porphyry exploration projects elsewhere in BC are reporting new discoveries of higher-grade mineralization below previously known, drilled prospects. We believe the Lac La Hache property has similar potential, and this will allow us to add new reserves from a number of possible zones" said <person>President Irvin Eisler</person>.

The Company maintains a quality assurance/quality control program that conforms to the requirements of National Instrument 43-101. <person>Rob Shives</person>, P.Geo., is the Qualified Person (as defined by NI43-101) who accepts responsibility for the technical content of this news release.

This press release may contain "forward-looking statements".
