OTTAWA, Oct. 29, 2013 /CNW/ - The Council of the Federation (COF) Water Stewardship Council announced today the launch for nominations for the 2014 Excellence in Water Stewardship Award. The award recognizes and celebrates outstanding achievement and innovative practice and leadership in the area of water stewardship. The award is presented to organizations, partnerships, businesses, institutions, municipalities and community groups.
The Excellence in Water Stewardship Award builds on the COF Water Charter. The Charter was endorsed by Premiers in 2010, and guides the work of the Water Stewardship Council. It recognizes the collective obligation of Canadians and their governments to promote water conservation and protect water quality.
The COF will announce the award recipients on March 17, 2014 at the beginning of Canada Water Week. There will be one recipient in each province and territory.
The Water Stewardship Council provides information and strategic advice to Premiers on key trends, issues and opportunities related to Canada's water resources, and where appropriate, implements the commitments of the Water Charter.
