REGINA, Nov. 14, 2013 /CNW/ - President's Choice® Children's Charity is pleased to announce $245,800 in funding to Breakfast for Learning to provide healthy meals and snacks to more than 17,500 Saskatchewan kids each day during the 2013/14 school year, including 20 Aboriginal school programs.
"One in 10 children in Canada living below the poverty line is a bit shocking. It's great to know that through our partnerships with Breakfast for Learning we are able to help young people with a healthy snack or meal as part of their day," said Peggy Hornell, executive director, President's Choice® Children's Charity.
"When a child is hungry, it's hard to learn," said Daniella Demare, Breakfast for Learning Saskatchewan Program Coordinator "President's Choice® Children's Charity's generous support will allow us to feed thousands of children through school nutrition programs across Saskatchewan."
In 2012, thanks to the generosity of customers, donors and the support of employees in Western Canada, President's Choice® Children's Charity awarded $3.36 million to 164 children with disabilities and 956 nutrition programs that serve more than 87,000 students across Western Canada.
