Press release # 6 - Provincial by-elections of November 9, 2015 - The electors of Beauce-Sud, Fabre, René-Lévesque and Saint-Henri-Sainte-Anne are invited to verify their registration on the list of electors Français
QUEBEC CITY, Oct. 19, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - The Chief Electoral Officer of Québec invites electors of the electoral divisions of Beauce-Sud, Fabre, René-Lévesque and Saint-Henri–Sainte-Anne to ensure that their names appear on the list of electors, in preparation for exercising their right to vote in the by-elections of November 9, 2015. Since it is impossible to vote without being registered on the list of electors, this verification is essential. The revision of the list of electors begins today and will continue until November 5, 2015, at 2 p.m. It is possible to use the revision process to register, to have an error corrected or to request that a name be struck off from the list.
The voter information card
It is mainly by consulting the voter information card distributed to each address of the electoral division that registration on the list of electors can be verified. Over 31,400 of these notices are being distributed in Beauce-Sud, almost 27,200 in Fabre, about 22,300 in René-Lévesque, and just over 49,800 in Saint-Henri-Sainte-Anne.
In the first place, the information card indicates the names of all registered electors entered on the list of electors at the same address or, where applicable, indicates that no elector is registered at that address. In addition to entries relating to the name of registered electors, special attention must be paid to the other information appearing on the card, including the address specified there.
The back of the card mentions where the elector may go for purposes of revision as well as the dates and times for doing so.
In addition, the card provides information about advance polling as well as the opening hours and telephone number for the office of the returning officer of the electoral division.
Moreover, along with the information card, electors will receive the Voter's Manual, which provides a variety of information on the current by-elections.
Boards of revisors that are accessible and easy to find
By appearing before a board of revisors established by the returning officer, a person may ask to be registered, make a correction (for example, following a move) or request to be struck from the list of electors. Registration on the list of electors may be verified and the address of a board of revisors found by consulting the section of the website of the Chief Electoral Officer devoted to the by-elections of November 9. The required information can simply be entered in the window provided for this purpose on the home page of the "By-elections" section. You can also obtain this information by contacting the Information Centre at 1-888 ELECTION (1-888-353-2846).
Opening hours for the board of revisors are as follows: from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Monday to Friday (closing at 2:00 pm on November 5, 2015) and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. An elector can file an application with the board, and a spouse, a relative or an elector who is cohabiting with the elector can also apply on his or her behalf.
However, between October 27 and November 5, the board will only receive applications concerning electors who appear before it in person and not, for example, an application concerning a family member.
Applications for registration or correction following a move must include two pieces of identification, one of which mentioning the name and date of birth of the elector in question, and the other his or her name and domiciliary address. A driver's license can replace the two pieces of identification.
Mobile board of revisors
A mobile board of revisors will be available for electors who might need it. In the electoral divisions of Beauce-Sud, Fabre, René-Lévesque and Saint-Henri–Sainte-Anne, the board will be on hand in a number of residential facilities (health-care facilities and private residences for the elderly). This review will take place "automatically" or "upon request," depending on the type of facility for which it is intended.
Domiciliary revision procedures are available for electors unable to move about for reasons of health and for their caregivers living at the same address. More information on the subject is available at the office of the returning officer.
Anyone wishing to learn more about the revision of the list of electors or any matter related to the November 9 by-elections is invited to consult the special section entitled "By-elections" on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer or to contact the Information Centre at the following numbers:
