TORONTO, Feb. 24, 2015 /CNW/ - In honour of #PinkShirtDay, Glama Gal Tween Spa has created the #GGITFORWARD initiative. Up until February 24th, tweens are being asked to visit any 1 of 7 Glama Gal locations in Ontario to pick up a free Pink GG Be Confident Bracelet. They will then #ggitforward by giving this pink bracelet to someone they know that is being bullied, experienced bullying, or could just use a friend right now. On #PinkShirtDay they will bring their friend to any GG Location to receive a free pink manicure for the both of them.
Glama Gal Founders and CEO's, Laura and Josie Cannone said, "We needed to create something that would help promote the message - Be a Buddy, not a Bully. We want tweens to take action, spread the act of kindness, and inspire others to be agents of change in their schools or communities. We are just the facilitators". Laura Cannone said, "I wish this day was around when I was growing up. Strategies to help those who were bullied were never discussed and there wasn't as much awareness or support as there is now. At Glama Gals, we aim to help someone who is being bullied by encouraging them to positively react to their bully by giving."
Here are some Canadian Bullying Statistics from Statistics Canada:
Glama Gal Tween Spa is a Canadian brand of spa's for children growing rapidly across Canada, created by two sisters whose negative bullying experience helped create this unique spa concept. We are a spa for girls of all ages and we strive to encourage all girls to be positive, to be confident, and to celebrate their uniqueness. GLAMA Stands for: Girls Leading And Motivating Altogether. Our definition of a spa is quite different from what most people think a spa is. Most people think a visit to the spa involves receiving a simple manicure, pedicure, massage, or facial. At Glama Gals, we offer all of that, but we make it our priority to take care of a tween's inner-self. From the moment girls walk into one of our spas, they are greeted by our Glam Staff who are ready to make them feel good on the inside and out. During our services, we cultivate a community culture, making sure we provide the best bonding experience between groups of friends or mothers and daughters. Tweens are never separated and are always all together; friendships are strengthened through our conversation starters and our sisterhood oath. Together, we help all girls unlock their true inner beauty and potential to be a Glambassador of positivity!
Glama Gals has been around since 2008 and currently has locations in Toronto, Vaughan, Ajax, Oakville, Newmarket, Markham and Sudbury.
