Press Release Illegal Practitioner Jenny Tran
TORONTO, March 8 /CNW/ - The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario received information from Durham Regional Police Services Major Fraud Unit in relation to a month long investigation of Ms. Jenny Tran and Ajax Unisex Salon and Spa, located at Westney Road in Ajax, that has resulted in the arrest of Ms. Tran for posing as a qualified healthcare provider in the areas of massage therapy, acupuncture and other services. Ms. Tran was charged with Fraud over $5000, 2 counts of Attempted Fraud over $5000, Forgery, Uttering Forged Documents, 2 counts of defrauding the public and Attempt to obstruct Justice.
Additionally, the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario obtained an injunction from the Superior Court of Justice declaring that Ms. Tran violated Section 7(2) of the Massage Therapy Act by holding herself out as a person qualified to practice massage therapy in the province of Ontario. The court further directed Ms. Tran to cease and desist from holding herself out as qualified to practice as a Registered Massage Therapist or in a specialty of massage therapy. Ms. Tran has been order to pay costs to the College in the amount of $5000 by Court Order dated February 23, 2010.
