Prime Minister Harper tours Sheridan's new Mississauga Campus
TORONTO, Dec. 2 /CNW/ - Prime Minister Stephen Harper toured the building site of Sheridan College's new Mississauga Campus today. "We were delighted to have the opportunity to show the Prime Minister around the site of our new campus," said Sheridan's President and CEO, Jeff Zabudsky. "We are very grateful for the combined funding from the federal and provincial governments under the Knowledge Infrastructure Program, along with the support from the City of Mississauga, which will help make the new campus a reality. We're very excited about serving the residents of Mississauga and becoming an important addition to its vibrant city centre."
Prime Minister Harper's tour took place immediately prior to his announcement of an extension of the deadline for completion of Economic Action Plan infrastructure projects by one full construction season, to October 31, 2011.
Sheridan's new campus is on schedule for substantial completion by March 31, 2011, and will be open and ready to receive students in September. Located at 4180 Duke of York Boulevard in Mississauga, the four-storey building will total 156,000 square feet, and will accommodate up to 1,760 full-time students. Programming will focus on post-secondary and post-graduate business programs, with additional spaces reserved for English language training and academic upgrading to serve newcomers and workers in transition.
