TORONTO, April 29, 2019 /CNW/ - Treasure Hill President, Nicholas Fidei, and Lia Fidei made a $2 million donation on behalf of the Nicholas Fidei Foundation to enable Future Care Now at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. This donation is in addition to the $1.5 million previously raised by Nicholas Fidei's Ride to Conquer Cancer team, the "Cycle Warriors".
The gift support's the Cancer Centre's multi-phase Space Transformation that will improve the experience for patients and families. The project prioritizes the patient experience, emphasizing that patients are at the centre of their individual treatment plans and partners in their own care. This important initiative will facilitate clinical research at this world-class institution and the development of cancer care around the globe.
"Community is the cornerstone of Treasure Hill and the Nicholas Fidei Foundation," said Nicholas Fidei. "Unfortunately, cancer is prevalent throughout our communities, having touched the lives of most Canadian families. We're honoured to have the opportunity to contribute to The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre's new space designed to prioritize the patient, to foster a sense of community, and to reinforce the message that no one is alone during this difficult and life-changing journey."
This year's Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer marks the 7th year of fund-raising for the "Cycle Warriors" for The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The team's 32 participants have raised over $1.5 million through innovative fundraising campaigns and corporate sponsorship. Pedaling towards a cure for Cancer is one of Nicholas' greatest passions, and the entire team has embraced his enthusiasm for this great cause.
"We are grateful for the ongoing support from Nicholas and Lia Fidei, the Fidei Foundation and the Cycle Warriors," says Michael Burns, President and CEO, The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. "This generous philanthropic donation supports the Space Transformation's mission to prioritize the patient experience. Together, we will build for the future and help advance our understanding and treatment of cancer around the globe."
