PrinterOn Introduces AirPrint Support for the PrinterOn Enterprise 2.1 Mobile Printing Platform
KITCHENER, ON, Sept. 12, 2013 /CNW/ - PrinterOn®, the world's leading Enterprise Mobile Printing Platform, has announced the release of PrinterOn Enterprise 2.1. This release of PrinterOn Enterprise introduces many new features, most notably the support for native AirPrint™ printing. Other new features such as Remote Print Release and Role-based Access Control streamline the printing process and give administrators more control over users and access to print services.
Turn Every Printer Into a Secure AirPrint-Compatible Printer
PrinterOn Enterprise 2.1 provides native iOS printing support with the introduction of the PrinterOn Print Delivery Gateway, the latest addition to the PrinterOn Enterprise Platform. The Print Delivery Gateway enables users to submit print jobs using the native AirPrint functionality on their devices and also introduces advanced capabilities not traditionally associated with the AirPrint experience including:
- The addition of enterprise-grade security and authentication to AirPrint's standard functionality
- The unique ability to extend AirPrint support across networks, connecting printers outside local networks
- Print management integration with Active Directory or LDAP, release and pull-print support
True Enterprise Mobility
PrinterOn Enterprise 2.1 introduces Remote Print Release which enables users to print and release documents from any device, streamlining the printing process. The PrinterOn mobile applications have been updated to incorporate this new functionality giving mobile users access to the release screen after printing. This feature can be easily enabled through the PrinterOn Administrative Dashboard.
More Control for Administrators
PrinterOn has introduced Role-Based Access Control which provides administrators the ability to manage how Groups and Organizational Units (OUs) access specific printers within an organization. PrinterOn Enterprise 2.1 also gives administrators more control over print behavior based on a user's identity and their selected printer. Administrators can now define independent workflows for corporate users and guests as well as corporate and guest printers.
"While the Enterprise 2.0 release was a large milestone for PrinterOn, we see 2.1 as an opportunity to focus on customer requested features that we have encountered over the last year," said Ken Noreikis, Vice President Sales & Marketing, PrinterOn. "The most exciting of these new features is the addition of native AirPrint printing to PrinterOn Enterprise. We believe we are introducing the world's most advanced and integrated AirPrint solution. With the Print Delivery Gateway, we are able add AirPrint functionality to any printer within an organization and extend user authentication and print management support as well."
