MONTREAL, April 11, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Co-Chairs of the Honorary Committee for the Prix Arts-Affaires de Montréal, Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal, and Jan-Fryderyk Pleszczynski, Chair of the Conseil des arts de Montréal (CAM), today announced the 12 candidates for the 2013 edition of the competition. The winners will receive their awards at a reception at Usine C on May 8, 2014.
Organized for the past eight years by the Board of Trade and the CAM, the Prix Arts-Affaires recognize business people's commitment to the Greater Montréal arts scene. Five Montrealers recognized for their expertise in the fields of culture, arts and business, with experience in ties between business and the arts, will choose the winners: Maria Antonopoulos, Marketing Communications Manager at the Antonopoulos Group, Marcel Côté, Strategic Advisor at KPMG-SECOR, Michel de la Chenelière, President of the Fondation de la Chenelière, Frédéric Loury, Managing Director and Curator of Art Souterrain, and Ginette Noiseux, Director of ESPACE GO.
"Every year, the business community gives time and money to help Montréal creators grow and gain exposure," Ginette Noiseux said. "The community does this with passion for a cause it believes in, to foster a city of culture with an international outlook."
"Ties between business and the arts have been forming and developing for many years, and the Prix Arts-Affaires make us aware of just how strong these ties are," Michel de la Chenelière said. "My experience as a volunteer and patron has taught me the point to which collaborations between business people and artists are mainly a matter of mutual trust and commitment. I have great admiration for the nominees, whom, individually or as part of companies, have taken action on their commitment to culture."
The jury will study the 12 nominations submitted by cultural organizations that want to recognize the people and businesses that supported them between January 1 and December 31, 2013. The nominations will be judged based on the quality and innovative spirit of support offered and the impact and value of the efforts on the organization's development.
