Project Finalists Announced for 11th Annual NAIOP Real Estate Excellence (REX) Awards

TORONTO, Feb. 14, 2012 /CNW/ - Project Finalists for this year's REX Awards have been announced by The Greater Toronto Chapter of NAIOP. The awards will be presented at the 11^th Annual NAIOP Real Estate Excellence (REX) Awards gala which takes place March 7, 2012 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The awards recognize outstanding achievements in the commercial real estate industry.

Project Finalists for Industrial Lease of the Year are:

• 1 Apollo Place (The Milestone Group, Apollo Health & Beauty Care, Colliers International);
• Stanley Black & Decker (Orlando Corporation, Stanley Black & Decker, CB Richard Ellis);
• Amazon Distribution Centre (Orlando Corporation, Amazon Canada Fulfillment Services Inc., Commerce Real Estate Solutions, DTZ Barnicke Limited).

Project Finalists for Office Lease of the Year are:

• RBC WaterPark Place (Oxford Properties Group, Royal Bank of Canada, Colliers International, WZMH Architects, Goodmans LLP, Blake Cassels & Graydon LLP);
• Coca-Cola Canada (First Gulf Corp., Coca-Cola Canada, Colliers International, figure3, Pellow + Associates Architects, City of Toronto);
• AeroCentre V (HOOPP Realty Inc., Target Canada Co., Cushman & Wakefield Ltd., CB Richard Ellis, Bennett Jones LLP, Osler Hoskin & Harcourt LLP).

Project Finalists for Industrial Development of the Year are:

• MHI/Orlando Corp. Design Build (Orlando Corporation, MHI Canada Aerospace Inc., Colliers International);
• 8300 Huntingdon Road (ZZEN Group of Companies Limited, Anatolia Tile Inc., Colliers International).

Project Finalists for Office Development of the Year are:

• PwC Tower (GWL Realty Advisors on behalf of bcIMC, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Cushman & Wakefield Ltd., KPMB Architects, EllisDon);
• The Tannery District (Cadan Inc., Raw Design, The Planning Partnership, E.R.A. Architects Inc., The Walter Fedy Partnership);

Project Finalists for Investment Deal of the Year are:

• 11 King West (Redcliff Realty Advisors Inc., LaSalle Investment Management, CB Richard Ellis, Avison Young Real Estate Management);
• Blackstone Canadian Office Portfolio (Dream for Dundee REIT, Brookfield Financial, Blackstone Real Estate Advisors, Slate Properties, CIBC World Markets, TD Securities, Osler Hoskin & Harcourt LLP);
• Atrium on Bay (H&R REIT Properties, Hines, BMO Capital Markets, Brookfield Financial).

Project Finalists for Green Award of the Year are:

• Oxford Properties Target 2012 (Oxford Properties Group);
• Cadillac Fairview, Toronto-Dominion Centre (Cadillac Fairview, Perkins + Will);
• Evergreen Brick Works (Evergreen, Halsali Associates, Diamond Schmitt Architects, du Toit Allsopp Hiller, Stantec Inc., Eastern Construction).

This year's Awards gala will feature YouTube sensation Marc Martel of Nashville. Martel, a native of Montreal and member of the Juno-winning band Downhere, became internationally renowned for his rendition of Queen's 'Somebody to Love'. He was subsequently honoured by the MTV O Awards 2 when fans across the country voted him winner of the Best Fan Cover. In December he was selected by a panel of world-class musicians to perform in the tribute project Queen Extravaganza, which tours later this year. Marc Martel and his band will rock the audience with classic Queen songs.

The Greater Toronto Chapter of NAIOP has over 800 members and is the leading, commercial, real estate association in the city. The third largest of 54 international NAIOP chapters, it represents commercial real estate developers, as well as owners and investors of office, industrial, retail and mixed-use properties.

The 11^th Annual NAIOP Real Estate Excellence (REX) Awards is the premier event for the office, industrial and mixed-use, real estate industry in the GTA.
