MONTREAL, Oct. 1, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - "It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the death of the mother of Richard Bergeron. On behalf of all the candidates and members of Projet Montreal, I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Richard and his entire family," said Michel Camus, President of Projet Montréal.
Ms Gérald Bergeron, born Marcelle Tremblay, passed away last night in Montreal at the age of 84.
"Richard will be taking a few days off to take care of his family and the arrangements for his mother's funeral, but the other 102 candidates of Projet Montréal will carry the torch in his absence," continued Mr. Camus.
"I know that Montrealers will forgive me this pause in the electoral debate as I withdraw, for a few days, to tend to what is more important than my political life, that is to say my family, my relatives and my friends," concluded Richard Bergeron.
Spokespeople for Projet Montréal will remain available during this period to discuss city issues.
