Prosperity pours into Calgary with onset of production at new distillery and winery
Expansion by Dragon's Den entrepreneur creates dozens of new jobs
CALGARY, May 28, 2019 /CNW/ - Calgary's local economy will get a much-needed boost this summer as production ramps up at the newly completed Minhas winery and distillery. These facilities have been added to the existing micro-brewery.
"We want Calgarians and all Albertans to know that we're committed to helping get Alberta's economy back on track," said Minhas President & CEO, and star of CBC Dragon's Den, Manjit Minhas.
"We're hiring more than 35 new staff to help us make wine and spirits right here in Calgary. Alberta is the best province in Canada to do business, and we're committed to growing here. With the help of our committed workers, we're showcasing Alberta's entrepreneurial spirit on the national and international stage.
The newly expanded Minhas liquor facilities, located at 1314 44 Ave NE in Calgary, AB, employ some of the world's most sophisticated artificial intelligence technology to produce the highest quality products using less energy than traditional distilleries.
The savings have allowed Minhas to reinvest in its workforce, and keep Calgary's economy moving forward. Some 550 people attended a one-day job fair for the new facilities on May 22. Thirty-five will be hired in the coming days.
"As we increase production, we're going to keep hiring," Minhas added.
About the facility:
In addition to its well-known beer labels, the distillery is now producing well established brands such as Blackstone Vodka, Platinum 10 times distilled Vodka, Ready To Drink Old Fashioned and Manhattan Cocktails, three types of gin and eight types of dry, semi dry and fruit infused wines.
