WINNIPEG, Manitoba, April 25, 2012 /CNW/ - In a move to solidify itself as company lead by technology, Providen Pharmacy Logistics announces the hire of Rob Watts as Vice President. With his extensive background in big business technology and software development, Watts is a welcome asset for a company that places cutting-edge pharma-tech and workflow innovation as a top priority.
Watts, who has worked in some capacity of business technology/IT for over a decade, most recently led a team of IT professionals at 365 Technologies INC implementing top tier automation system including LabTech and ConnectWise. Watts began as a software developer and throughout his career, has created and implemented software for purposes of seamless integration and automation.
It was these high-level integration skills that drew founder and President Dave Huston to Watts and eventually lead to his selection as VP of Providen Pharmacy Logistics. Rob will be responsible for Providen's swift and seamless supply chain solution, ensuring Providen's advanced software systems work flawlessly with those of its pharmacy clients. He will execute and oversee all phases of telepharmacy as well as Canada's first and only automated, central prescription drug dispensary.
"Rob, with his intimate knowledge of software integration and automation, coupled with his ability to work in such a wide range of industries and the systems within, makes him a perfect choice to manage our technology solutions," Huston said of Watts. "There is no discernible end to what the guy can do and he truly understands our goals."
Watts joins the Providen team at a crucial moment in the scope of Canadian pharmacy and health care spending. Recent cuts in generic drug rebates have sent pharmacies reeling, trying to manage the loss. "Pharmacies need to look to gain efficiencies other than cutting pharmacy staff." Huston continued, "One way to bridge these gaps is by using our workflow solutions. Central fill and telepharmacy can save pharmacies' loads by cutting inventory and equipment costs, increasing access and allowing their pharmacists to spend less time dispensing and more time on other clinical patient services."
Providen's central initiative is to lead pharmacies toward a more current and clinical-based model where pharmacists can practice at the top of their license, spending more time with patients and less time dispensing pills. At the core of this model is fully integrated, state-of-the-art technology with increased safety and patient-pharmacy communication. The hiring of Rob Watts is a direct step solidifying Providen as a company centered on smart technology, propelling itself into the future and moving pharmacy forward.
