Provincial panel to shine a spotlight on the role of the RPN
Project aimed at enhancing clarity regarding the role of the Registered Practical Nurse in Ontario's health care system
MISSISSAUGA, ON, April 4, 2013 /CNW/ - The Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario (RPNAO) is pleased to announce the launch of a new provincial project titled: 'It's All about Synergies: Understanding the Role of the RPN in Ontario's Health Care System'.
The purpose of this project is to engage with nurses, nurse leaders and other health care experts from across Ontario to share their knowledge and insights to create optimal environments where RPNs can work to their full scope of practice as members of interprofessional health care teams.
This research and consultation project, which is expected to be completed by December, 2013, is being guided by a provincial working panel consisting of key stakeholders from the education and health care sectors. "We're delighted to be embarking on this important role clarity project," said Dianne Martin, Executive Director of RPNAO. "We are extremely encouraged by the level of enthusiasm and support we have received from various stakeholders who believe that this work will greatly benefit our health care teams."
In addition to producing a final report outlining the findings, the working panel will also lead the development of a set of resources that nurses, nurse employers and educators will be able to utilize to help enhance their understanding of the scope and appropriate engagement of the RPN role in Ontario's health care system.
