BOUCHERVILLE, QC, Dec. 16, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - PROXIM and its parent company, McKesson Canada, are proud to announce a three-year partnership with Leucan that will enable access to personalized support for cancer-stricken children and their families in Quebec.
Starting today, PROXIM becomes presenting sponsor of the Leucan Shaved Head ChallengeTM and Leucan 12-Hour Ski Challenge. Funds raised through these activities will contribute to providing access to distinctive and tailored cancer services, and investments in clinical research across Quebec.
The Leucan Shaved Head Challenge invites the community to "put a price on their heads" and collect donations from friends and family. The Leucan 12-Hour Ski Challenge is a gesture of solidarity in which participants come together for a day, and are spread out over four different ski hills.
It is estimated that in 2015, over 50,100 new cancer cases will be diagnosed in Quebec. Across the country, over 78,000 Canadians will die from the disease.
"At PROXIM, our pharmacist-owners help provide access to care every day. PROXIM's pharmacist-owners regularly assist families of children affected by cancer, providing personalized support to maximize the benefits of drug therapy. 2016 marks the 10th anniversary of our pharmacy banner and what better way to celebrate our commitment to care than to partner with Leucan," added Alain Arel, PROXIM's President-General Manager.
McKesson Canada and PROXIM have been supporters of Leucan since 2010. Collectively, they have contributed close to $700,000 to help Leucan's important work.
"At McKesson Canada, our success is a result of our people, working together each and every day. We're pleased to be part of a growing group across Quebec united by the common cause of supporting our communities and the thousands of Quebecers impacted by this disease", said Alain Champagne, President of McKesson Canada. "Our commitment to Leucan is personal. Participating in the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge has become an annual tradition for colleagues and me. I look forward to even more joining me this year!"
Marie-Line Beauchamp, Executive Director of Leucan adds: "We are very fortunate to have real partners like PROXIM and McKesson Canada. This kind of contribution is a tremendous support to Leucan in our efforts to help families of children with cancer, and promote their recovery and wellness at all stages in the fight against cancer."
