PTI Inc. Management Attacks Employees with Lockout
WINNIPEG, Sept. 1, 2017 /CNW/ - United Steelworkers (USW) Local 4297 members employed by PTI Inc. in Winnipeg have been locked out of work as the company's management launches an attack on its own employees.
PTI management locked out its 115 employees Aug. 24, 2017, before the union even had the opportunity to vote on a company contract offer.
"Every day, Steelworkers at PTI work hard to ensure the company is successful. In return, PTI management is seeking to turn the clock back on long-standing benefits in a reckless and harsh attack against its own employees," says Roy Leslie, USW Staff Representative.
USW Local 4297 is seeking a fair and balanced contract that ensures the dignity and respect of every employee and that maintains a secure retirement and other important benefits for workers.
"PTI management is not only attacking the dignity of their employees, it is also attacking the families of workers and the larger community. Steelworkers and their families are the heart and soul of the community and the people who make PTI work. If management wants to respect their employees and the community, it should return to the bargaining table to reach a fair settlement," says Leslie.
