PTI Opens Three New Properties to Serve Bakken Play
Locations in Stanley, Weyburn and Redvers now providing accommodations to Oil and Gas Customers
EDMONTON, Dec. 7 /CNW/ - PTI Group Inc., a North American leader in remote site, workforce accommodations and catering, announced today the addition of three new properties serving the oil and gas industry in the Bakken region of North Dakota and Saskatchewan. The facilities, typically called "open camps," are modular hotels that operate in remote areas where there are limited, viable short-stay housing alternatives.
With a renewed interest in shale gas reserves, the Bakken region has experienced considerable growth in drilling programs. This increased activity has in turn created an accommodations demand for operators and drill-site service companies working in the field. Set within the Williston Basin, the Bakken shale formation straddles a large portion of southeastern Saskatchewan and the southwestern edge of Manitoba, extending south of the US border into North Dakota and Montana. Stretching across approximately 200,000 square miles, the Bakken is estimated to hold over two billion barrels of recoverable reserves.
With a lack of available short-term housing options in the region, PTI has worked with local communities and industry to address the shortage. PTI Stanley House, located south of Stanley, North Dakota, opened its doors this week offering 168 rooms ranging from single occupancy quarters to VIP suites. Two additional properties are also now in operation in Saskatchewan, with one located in Weyburn (98 rooms) and the other in Redvers (76 rooms). Each of the properties feature catered dining, laundry facilities, in room wireless internet and satellite TV, and recreation and fitness facilities.
"Our focus has always been to provide quality of life for those working in the field," says PTI Vice President, James Teppan. "For people working away from home for weeks at a time, we pride ourselves in being able to provide a standard of accommodations that rewards our guests at the end of a long day on the job."
With PTI's Stanley, Weyburn and Redvers properties, the company now has a total of four facilities serving the Bakken. PTI opened its first Bakken property in Waskada, Manitoba in March, 2010. The company also operates 24 other open camp locations across western Canada and the US Rocky Mountain corridor ranging in size from 40 to 5,000 rooms.
PTI Group is one of North America's largest fully integrated suppliers of remote site services providing temporary and permanent workforce accommodations, food services, facility management, and water and wastewater services to resource industries worldwide. PTI Group is a subsidiary of Houston-based Oil States International, a diversified oilfield services company publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol OIS.
