Public consultation begins on expansion project for Tennis Canada facilities
at Jarry Park

MONTREAL, April 30 /CNW Telbec/ - The Office de consultation publique de Montréal (OCPM) announces today the beginning of the consultation process on a project to increase the capacity of the Centre de tennis du parc Jarry. Tennis Canada would like to expand one section of the building in order to accommodate four indoor tennis courts, raising the height of the building to 22.6 metres. This would require a variance to current legislation providing for a maximum height of 15 metres.

These changes therefore require a public consultation, and city council has given the Office de consultation publique de Montréal the mandate to hold it. The process involves two steps. Firstly, the commission designated by the Office will hold an information session, where the developer, Tennis Canada, will present the project. The borough representatives in charge will then describe the draft by-law that would make the project possible. This meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 18, at 7:00 p.m., at the Centre 7400, located at 7400 Saint-Laurent Boulevard (Castelnau metro station). During the meeting, citizens will be invited to ask any questions they like about the project and its consequences.

Secondly, citizens will be invited to present their opinions on the project, verbally or in writing, at a second meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, June 15, at the same location, also at 7:00 p.m. Anyone wishing to present an opinion at this meeting must register with the OCPM by June 10 at the latest.
