Public meeting Thursday in Stratford to discuss bed cuts at Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance
STRATFORD, ON, Aug. 20, 2014 /CNW/ - A public meeting will be held on Thursday August 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Spruce Lodge (643 W. Gore Street in the Griffith Auditorium) in Stratford.
Downsizing hospitals, cutting beds and shedding services has been the basis for the Ontario Liberal government's health care delivery reforms. Small rural hospitals are particularly threatened under this plan and the Huron Perth Alliance has recently announced the closure of 17 beds, as it deals with the 3rd year of a five-year funding freeze.
Ontario Healthcare Coalition Executive Director Natalie Mehra will lead the community meeting, which will result in an action plan to mobilize the communities in the Alliance against the cuts.
