GATINEAU, QC, July 6, 2017 /CNW/ - Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) wishes to advise the public that steam will be released at high pressure from Parliament Hill's West Block construction site on July 8, 2017, between 4 pm and 10 pm. This will cause a continuous loud noise, with a geyser-like plume of steam, to emanate from near the southwest corner of the Centre Block for approximately 4 hours. The effect will be similar to a previous steam blow-off on the Hill.
The steam blow-off marks a major milestone in the rehabilitation of the West Block as it signifies the start of steam and chilled water service for the building and for the Visitor Welcome Centre. The release of steam is being carried out to clean the underground pipes.
For more information about the work underway, consult the web page about the rehabilitation of the West Block.
Parliament Hill will remain open. PSPC thanks visitors for their patience.
