Public service announcement - Military exercise in La Jacques-Cartier and
Portneuf
VALCARTIER GARRISON, QC, April 29 /CNW Telbec/ - From May 3 to 14, nearly 150 members of 12e Régiment blindé du Canada will participate in an exercise in the regional county municipalities of La Jacques-Cartier and Portneuf. They will practise their reconnaissance skills in preparation for their deployment to Afghanistan in fall 2010.
In various municipalities located between Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury and Saint-Marc-des-Carrières, the soldiers will practise a number of scenarios such as vehicle and foot patrols, convoy escorts, zone protection and roadside checkpoints. Approximately 30 wheeled light armoured vehicles will be used for training purposes.
Although the soldiers will be in the area and will interact freely with the public, residents will not be overly inconvenienced and will be able to go about their daily business. Blank ammunition and pyrotechnic material will be used safely.
