Public service announcement - Military exercise in the Centre-du-Québec
region
VALCARTIER GARRISON, QC, March 19 /CNW Telbec/ - Some 600 troops from Valcartier will take part in a military exercise in the Centre-du-Québec region from March 22 to April 9, 2010. The goal of this training is to prepare troops of various occupations for a deployment to Afghanistan in fall 2010.
In Victoriaville, Princeville and Saint-Norbert-d'Arthabaska, the soldiers will practise various scenarios, including patrols, zone protection, road checks and casualty evacuation. Approximately 60 vehicles of all kinds will be used for training purposes.
Although the troops will be present in the municipalities and will interact with the local people on a voluntary basis, residents will not be unduly bothered and will be able to carry out their normal activities. Blank ammunition and pyrotechnics will be used securely.
At the end of the exercise, residents will be invited to meet the troops and view some of the equipment used during training. The activity, which will take place at La Grande Place des Bois-Francs Commercial Center (Victoriaville), is free and all are welcome. The date and hour will be published later on by means of a news release.
