#CarveAHeart with World Vision aims to raise awareness about vulnerable children
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Oct. 26, 2017 /CNW/ - For Canadians wanting their pumpkins to stand out amongst the crowd this year, giving their pumpkin a purpose could do the trick. World Vision is asking Canadians to raise awareness about the world's vulnerable children by including a heart in their design and posting a photo to social media with the hashtag #CarveAHeart. World Vision has created three fun and unique heart stencils for pumpkin carvers of all abilities to help get things started.
"Last year, we saw Canadians from coast to coast show their support and raise awareness for families living in difficult circumstances by carving a heart in their pumpkin. We're excited to see this initiative grow as more families and friends take part," says Megan Radford de Barrientos, a World Vision Canada writer who put together this compilation of last year's initiative.
Every Halloween, families carve fun, scary or cool designs into their pumpkins and leave them on the porch for the amusement of trick or treaters. By carving a heart and posting a photo of their pumpkin to social media with the hashtag #CarveAHeart, families can add purpose to this fun fall activity.
Canadians can also show their support by texting LOVE to 41010 to donate $5. The funds will be directed to the gift of "Crop Seeds for Farmers" from the World Vision Gift Catalogue.
