Purdy's Chocolates and The Morning News team on Global BC join forces to raise money for Variety - The Children's Charity
VANCOUVER, Jan. 30, 2012 /CNW/ - Purdy's Chocolates and The Morning News team on Global BC have come in partnership together to raise money for a great cause - the Variety Show of Hearts Telethon.
"We have supported Variety the Children's Charity for a number of years, and we are proud to have been able to represent Purdy's on the Gold Panel during the telethon for several years now. The idea for the chocolates came together very quickly - Steve Darling presented us with an idea of how we could work together and we ran with it," says Kriston Dean, Director of Chocolate Merchandising and Marketing at Purdy's.
Within a couple of weeks, a limited edition chocolate pack with an original recipe by Purdy's Head Chocolatier Gary Mitchell was created. The Helping Hearts pack, which contains seven delectable pieces of milk chocolate hearts with a Dulce de Leche caramel centre, retails for $8.95 and $2.00 from the sale of each pack will benefit Variety's Show of Hearts Telethon. "We've also added a QR code to the package - all you have to do is scan the code with any smart phone and you'll be taken to Variety's website, where you can make an instant donation!" says Dean.
"Variety - The Children's Charity is very special to Global BC and our crew on The Morning News. We are so excited along with Purdy's to come up with Helping Hearts and with our viewers to help provide more funds for BC's special kids," says Steve Darling, Morning News Anchor, Global BC.
"Purdy's has been a partner of Variety's for many years. It is so wonderful to see Purdy's and Global BC come together to help Variety's Show of Hearts Telethon, where money is raised to assist children across BC who have special needs," says Barbara Hislop, Executive Director, Variety - The Children's Charity."
The Helping Hearts chocolate pack will go on sale in all BC Purdy's Chocolates shops starting February 1 until February 14, 2012. A cheque presentation is scheduled during the telethon on February 12th.
