Pure Water Box has the technology to provide clean drinking water in First Nation Communities across Canada

MARKHAM, ON, March 23, 2012 /CNW/ - The president of Canada's leading manufacturer of eco-friendly state of the art 16, 20 and 40 foot water purification units, Pure Water Box, believes he has a solution to the poor quality drinking water in Canada's First Nation Communities.

PWB President Ryan Mitchell met with some members of the First Nations leadership at the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) Water Conference in Edmonton earlier this month to discuss how his company can provide clean drinking water.

"We have the technology to provide a Canadian solution to a Canadian problem of third world water quality in Canada's First Nation Communities," Mitchell said.

In a series of private meetings, Mitchell told AFN officials that Pure Water Box 20 and 40 foot units can purify the dirtiest water producing 545,100 litres of clean, safe drinking water a day.

"The drinking water purified by our units is better than World Health Organization standards," Mitchell told AFN officials.

The Pure Water Box system can fill tanker trucks for water distribution to homes or fill plastic bags that can be custom sized from 250 ml to one litre. The bags can easily be cut open or pierced with a special straw for ease of drinking. The units can also provide bottled water for delivery.

The AFN Water Conference was held to discuss First Nation water rights and the technical element of delivering safe drinking water to First Nation communities. Only 27 per cent of the water available on First Nation communities across Canada is safe to drink.

"First Nations face increasing difficulties in accessing safe and clean drinking water," National Chief Shawn A-in-chut Alteo told the conference. "Water is a basic element of life that is essential to the overall health and economic well-being of First Nations."

More discussions are planned between Pure Water Box, the leadership of First Nation communities and federal government officials.
