More than 12,000 supporters aim to raise in excess of 411,000 pounds of food for local communities in one week
TORONTO, May 29, 2014 /CNW/ - From June 2 to 6, more than 12,000 Purolator employees, partners, agents and customers will join Canadians from coast to coast to raise food and funds for food banks across Canada. The effort is in support of Purolator Tackle Hunger® (PTH) Week – Purolator Inc.'s national annual fundraising campaign to help alleviate the issue of hunger in Canada.
"The Purolator Tackle Hunger program is about working together to raise awareness of hunger and lend a helping hand to the more than 800,000 Canadians that rely on food banks every month," said Patrick Nangle, Purolator's President and Chief Executive Officer. "From June 2 to 6, with the help of our employees, customers and all Canadians, we hope to exceed the amount of food we raised during our 2013 PTH Week – which was the equivalent of 411,000 pounds of food."
How Canadians can donate
During PTH Week, Canadians can make a donation via social media or in person. For every "like" on Purolator's Facebook pageor use of #TackleHunger on Twitter, Purolator will donate one pound of food to help food banks in our communities. Canadians can also make a donation by dropping off non-perishable food items at any Warehouse One location or any of the 130 Purolator Shipping Centres across Canada.
Purolator employees are also doing their part to alleviate hunger during PTH Week by hosting internal events across the country to raise food and funds for local food banks in their communities.
