The Government of Canada will support for the Tournée Québec Cinéma
MONTRÉAL, March 6, 2020 /CNW/ - When it comes to the movies, we get so much more out of the experience when we can identify with the characters, hear our own language and accent in the dialogue, and see a bit of ourselves in the places shown on the big screen. We can project ourselves into the movie and make it our own. It is what gives film the power to enrich our culture and promote our identity.
This is why Soraya Martinez, Member of Parliament (Hochelaga), on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages, was pleased to announce the Government of Canada's support for the Fondation Québec Cinéma's touring film festival, the Tournée Québec Cinéma. The project is designed to promote exchanges between Francophone and Francophile movie fans by showcasing works by Quebec, Franco-Ontarian, and Indigenous filmmakers.
Funding of $60,000, provided through the Official Languages Support Programs, will help organizers roll out the tour, which will showcase films through activities such as screenings and after-movie discussions, film workshops in both official languages, and talks with media arts professionals.
