Sprint sensation, Andre De Grasse, latest to join Team PwC
TORONTO, July 26, 2016 /CNW/ - PwC Canada is pleased to announce that the firm will be sponsoring rising Canadian sprint star Andre De Grasse, who joins the ranks of Team PwC, a group of high performance athletes that share the firm's commitment to excellence in their quest to stand atop the podium.
De Grasse, a track and field athlete from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), is among ten athletes PwC supports through Team PwC, which was established in 2011. His accomplishments include winning gold medals in the 100m and 200m at the 2015 NCAA Championships and the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto. De Grasse capped off his remarkable 2015 season in winning two bronze medals at the World Championships in the 100m and 4x100m relay. After competing at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Jeneiro, De Grasse will return to the University of Southern California this fall to complete his undergraduate degree in sociology.
"It's a pleasure and a privilege to be a part of the journey with this diverse group of high-performance athletes who train, compete, and give their best every day in pursuit of excellence. These athletes embody PwC values of teamwork, excellence, and leadership," said Tahir Ayub, Managing Partner, Markets and Industries at PwC Canada. "They inspire hard-work and dedication from coast to coast and we're so pleased to have the opportunity to celebrate their achievements as they take the world stage."
PwC's athlete sponsorship is part of a broader commitment to Canadian sport. In addition to working with individual athletes as part of Team PwC, the firm also sponsors the Canadian Football League.
"I'm excited to join Team PwC and the amazing group of athletes they sponsor. Performing at my best on the track requires the right equipment, coaching and medical support. I look at performance off the track and in business much the same way," said De Grasse. "PwC provides the professional services I need to manage the unique aspects of my career."
