Q-GOLD ANNOUNCES AGM RESULTS AND ONTARIO DRILLING UPDATE
FORT FRANCES, ON, Nov. 11 /CNW/ - Q-Gold Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE: QGR) (http://www.qgoldresources.com) announced the results of its Annual General Meeting of Shareholders ("AGM") held on November 4, 2010. All items on the ballot sent to shareholders, the Election of Directors, the appointment of Auditors and the approval of the Company's Stock Option Plan, were approved, having received votes in excess of the requisite 51% majority. The Board of Directors now consists of the following members:
J. Bruce Carruthers II (Chairman)
Mr. Carruthers, the founder of the Company, is a graduate of both Princeton University with a B.A. in Geology and Pennsylvania State University with an M.S. in Mineral Economics. He has over forty years of experience in management and operations of public companies in the international mining and oil industries.
Robert Gardner, QC
Mr. Gardner received his Masters of Arts and Law degree from the University of Cambridge. He is a member of Queens counsel and was called to the bars of BC and England & Wales. He is a partner and principal of the law firm, Gardner & Associates with over 30 years of experience with public companies, having served on the board of more than ten publicly traded companies.
John Campbell
Mr. Campbell is the CEO of First Star Resources Inc., a TSX-V listed gold exploration company focused in Alaska, and he also sits on the board of Viridis Energy Inc.
Bill Majcher
Mr. Majcher is presently a Managing Director of the Baron Group, a Hong Kong-based merchant bank and a director of China Investment Fund (HKSE) and Evolving Gold Corp. He is also on the Advisory Board of the FMS Group, a Singapore-based institutional investor group and fund manager.
Brian R.D, Smith QC (appointed by the Board)
Mr. Smith is a practicing lawyer with Gowlings, Lefleur, Henderson, LLP of Toronto. He is the past Minister of Energy and Mines, past Education Minister and past Attorney General of the Province of British Columbia. He is also past Chairman of BC Hydro and past Chairman of Canadian National Railways.
The following officers of the Corporation were appointed by the Board: Robert Gardner, QC, President; John Campbell, Chief Executive Officer; J. Bruce Carruthers II, Chief Operating Officer; and Eric A. Gavin, Chief Financial Officer and VP Finance & Administration.
At Mine Centre, Ontario, Phase II of the diamond drilling program continues on Q-Gold's McKenzie Gray gold/ silver deposit. The Company's Phase I 2009 drilling program successfully extended the McKenzie Gray deposit, with all 12 holes encountering zones of significant sulfide mineralization at depths ranging from 30 to 90 metres (see October 28, 2009 and October 21, 2010 press releases). Eleven of the holes encountered gold mineralization, with the twelfth hole encountering silver.
Ten of the Phase II's 18 drill holes have been completed with core logging and sample preparation in progress. Samples will be sent for assay to TSL Laboratories in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
At Crown King, Arizona, the Company continues geologic mapping and sampling of surface silverbearing veins as well as historic (1870-1903) silver mine adits and underground mine levels in conjunction with contract underground miners. A number of silver ore samples have been taken and sent for assay to ALS Chemex in Reno, Nevada. The Company is continuing exploration on the five historic silver and four gold mines that it holds options on near Crown King.
Q-Gold also holds options on two Arizona copper porphyry prospects near Globe and one historic copper/ zinc mine near Bagdad.
Chairman Bruce Carruthers remarked, "The Company is extremely well positioned in Canada and the United States to take advantage of record metals prices, with a number of historic gold, silver and copper mines in Ontario and Arizona, which are currently being explored."
